You can also search near a city, place, or address instead. Really not worth the money, even at half price. They charged us $15 for parking our own car in their parking lot, which was not even a covered space. It is true that there was a sign, but I suppose we assumed the sign was for the valet parking - who expects to be charged $15 for driving themselves into a parking space? Besides, the sign was not very prominent at all. This seems like a cheap way to make some extra money. As for the rooms, sound insulation is terrible, the little refrigerator was so noisy it kept us awake until I switched it off, the room was tiny, only just enough room to get by between the end of the bed and the refrigerator 'console'. All this for $167 per night.
The 'European style' Spa is also ridiculously overpriced. This was our first visit to Sonoma.
We will not be staying at the Fairmont Mission Inn & Spa next time. There are a lot of great reviews below, so I'll just add some notes from our experience. Many people consider this place a little out of the way.The surrounding neighborhood is residential.
There is a nice coffee shop across the street that is a local gem - a nice place to get coffee or tea while avoiding the tourists. Otherwise it is an oasis, as it's often described. It is less than 5 minutes to Sonoma center by car, so really not far out of the way. We were in Sonoma in late June and parking was plentiful, so the location did not hold us back at all. Definitely join the president's club online. It is free and you get a big discount on the mineral springs. One negative - there is only wifi in the lobby.
Ethernet internet access in the rooms is expensive. This is a big deal when you're trying to plan your next day of wine tasting. Carol K describes the rooms well. We did not have her same experience with long waits for phone calls.
I adore the Fairmont. It has everything you can wish for! Sante (the onsite restaurant with a Michelin star) is delicious.
There is a variety of spa services, there are morning yoga classes, and the pool is lovely. Unfortunately I came during winter so the hot springs were closed. The grounds are beautiful.
The rooms are situated in such a way that it doesn't seem like a hotel so much as a condo area. The rooms seem private even though you technically do have neighbors. You can enjoy a complimentary bottle of wine in your hotel room.
There is a fireplace that really adds to the romantic ambience. And the jacuzzi is great. The rooms have a rustic yet modern feel. And there is already music playing on the radio when you walk in your room. Simply put - Ritz Carlton prices, Motel 6 experience. For example, we wanted to play tennis but we had to wait for them to drive us 15 mins to a deserted athletic club down the road where the tennis office was chained and locked up so we had no access to a bathroom.
They informed us we would be charged $25 to use the courts (not a sole was there!) then they were going to charge us to borrow a worn out racquet!! After arguing these ridiculous charges, they finally took it off our bill - it was Mother's Day after all! The entire place is run down, although many of the staff members were helpful and kind. It is so disappointing. We will not be returning. Thank you to everyone at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn for such a lovely stay and taking care of all of us at A Savvy Event. As Wedding Planners we don't usually get too much to relax and busy helping all of our clients.
Everything was truly spectacular. After we checked into our hotel rooms we were greeted with a cocktail reception and toured the facility. This one of the most amazing properties, no wonder so many of our brides choose to get married here. After, we had the most spectacular 5-course dinner.
The food was so delicious and it was First Class in every way. A Winter Farmer's Market Salad, Duck confit risotto, poached lobster tail (can you give me a bowl of just this), Seared Filet Mignon and we ended with a quattro of chocolate. Thee remainder of the evening we spent on our own, and, the next day all of us were pampered in their state-of-the-art spa. I was like jello when I was finished and it was so nice to relax by the pool too. This was an amazing experience, so if you ever are looking for a place to relax, dine and get pampered, you definitely have to put the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa on your list. This is an amazing property for corporate and social events too.

I wasn't planning to go back to the hotel, as it was pricey for what it was. However, I went as a Christmas getaway with my boyfriend last week with help of Groupon.
I was really embarrassed that I had recommended this place, as the service was really poor for what you are paying. The check in was slow and clumsy. I'm sure the hotel has a lot of interesting things going on, but it was like pulling teeth to get information from the staff. I called down to find out about yoga classes and was given the wrong information. They 'nickel and dime' on everything.
We spent about $800 in 1 night (including spa) and have had better service at a holiday inn. I did like the room and the co-ed ritual baths at the spa (though my boyfriend thought the spa was dated and noisy). The staff at the spa was exceptional, so a day trip to the Spa could be a good idea.
Honestly, we checked in late, which was our own problem, but we did not have excellent service. Our room was in the historic building which should still be nice but was small and for sure not worth $500+. I travel a lot for work and have stayed in a lot of places even next to the airport that are nicer and half the price. If you are wanting to spend a lot of money and don't care about anything but a clean bed and some character then this is the place for you. If you want a place that has a great service, nice hotel, big rooms, and quite than, look somewhere else. Why the minus 1 star? They kept our bags for over 45 minutes after I checked-in with the front desk receptionist and telling her we need to check in our bags-our bags is with the bell hops and we have bottles of wine waiting outside (it was extremely warm/hot weather).
Sighs I had to chuck my cheese I had, not that it was expensive, but it was inconvenient. When I made the reservations for my last night stay I told them I'm celebrating my birthday, and the lady over the phone said she'll add that note into the system.
I guess she forgot or because. Whoever checked me in was too chatty with her coworkers. I didn't feel the EXCELLENT customer service. If you don't like your job doing customer service, do something else, or else you'll ruin the image of your other coworker's efforts of providing EXCELLENT customer service. I felt like since I paid she just completely pawned me off like 'NEXT' I wanna get outta here, when's my shift over.
Our bartender/server Dori was helpful and super busy. I was having the start of my lady cramps on my birthday, wanting hot tea and something light. When I mentioned a little cake w/candle for my birthday, she didn't even hesitate, and served my the best little vanilla bean goat cheese cake with chocolate writing on the plate 'Happy Birthday'. Day of check out: quick and easy.
Better than checking in. Went straight to the Spa boutique and purchased their signature items for myself and as gifts-Apricot and Cream line. I wish I was told about their President's Club when I checked in. However this will serve me better use in the near future when I need to get away from the suburban city life. Check-in was a breeze, concierge was helpful, and even housekeeping was great. Hotel: The hotel itself is a little old and the walls are somewhat thin.this place used to be a mission before it was turned into a hotel (I think). I also thought the location of the hotel was a little odd. It's in the middle of nowhere in a not-so-nice looking neighborhood.
We though we took a wrong turn at first. There was also a squeaky floorboard in our room. However, the decor is cute and French-inspired. Spa: If you book something from the spa you get free access to the mineral pools, bath house, sauna, and steam room. If you don't book anything but want to still have access to the facilities, you have to pay something like $40 per person for a day pass. It's worth it.
It's also co-ed so you can still enjoy the company of your honey. My bf booked a culinary package for the weekend. Our room had 2 robes, 2 pairs of slippers, a complimentary bottle of wine, and an assorted cheese plate when we arrived. The first night we had a private wine tasting in the cave with a small tasting of four courses from their Michelin-rated restaurant, Sante. The following night we had a wonderful 7 course dinner (plus 2 amuse bouches) and wine pairing at Sante.this all came with the package.
Dinner was absolutely wonderful! I had a wonderful time here.
I'm giving this place 3 stars because of the room itself. Maybe our room would've been a little better if we didn't go there on such a busy weekend (Valentine's weekend).
We have stayed at this hotel once before. We thought we would give it another shot. However, it again was a disappointment. Our room was a regular sized room ('small suite' according to them), that ran about $1,000 a night, including resort fee and tax.
The customer service, specifically at the front desk, was terrible. Our room smelled of smoke and was in need of renovation and updating. We were not able to check in on time. Food was so, so, very average. Surprisingly, for a Fairmont anyway, there were tour busses unloading throngs of tour bus tourists.

If you want to feel as though you are at a best western stay here. Otherwise, the wine country has a plethora of beautiful places to stay and this is not it. Strongly recommend a boutique hotel or even a nice B&B. This is a review of the spa only. My friend and I were both wanting a quick getaway for the day- a place where we could chill, lounge in the sun, and possibly drink some wine.
Initially, she had suggested Indian Springs, but through Jetsetter, I was reminded of the Fairmont and had read about their spa. Since Sonoma is significantly closer, we headed up to the Mission Inn and Spa. We went on a Sunday, so as long as we bought a spa treatment worth $160, we could stay and use the spa facilities ('taking the waters') as well as the pool area for the day. We arrived at 11 a.m., enjoyed the free valet parking, and walked to the registration area only to be two seconds behind a large group of older women all trying to sign in at the same time. The dome over the reception area is one of those where you can hear everything happening on the opposite side as if it is right next to your ear. When someone behind the desk was rustling papers, I thought someone might be walking on the ceiling. After changing into swim suits and donning the provided bathrobes and sandals, we clomped downstairs to the spa cafe, where we had salad type food and really amazing custom smoothies.
I highly recommend the coconut milk, pineapple juice, mango and banana combo. Decamping to two lounge chairs, we observed the rest of the crowd around the pool. In addition to the large group of older women from check in, there were more older women in sun hats. We were the youngest there by probably 30 years, which was actually kind of nice, until later on in the day when a group of bridesmaids on a bachelorette party weekend took over the pool.
For the spa treatment, I had the sports massage, which was EXCELLENT. Lots of stretches and massage strokes targeted at the areas I've been using for swimming and running. My friend said her massage (regular swedish) was one of the best she'd ever had. When we re-emerged, both of us found our contacts stuck to our eyeballs, which, IMHO, is one of several signs of a great massage.

We also 'took the waters' (I did twice); I especially liked the exfoliating shower and the eucalyptus steam shower. Overall, we spent 7 hours here and enjoyed every minute of it. We were only gone for a day but felt like we had just been on a vacation. And the glasses of wine brought to our lounge chairs were just icing on the cake. Free bottle of red, 2-person jacuzzi tub and super comfy bed - heaven! Went with the hubby for a short overnighter.

When we arrived (around sundown), self-park was all full so they were valeting at self-park prices (score!). Check-in was a breeze - they did require the physical groupon which was annoying but otherwise, everything went according to plan. When we got in, guests were enjoying a winetasting in the lobby and there was a mini-art show with Matisse and Chagall prints.
Property is a little confusing - thank god we had a map. When we finally got to the room, we were pleasantly surprised. Spacious room, sitting area with fireplace and again, that lovely free bottle of vino.
We cracked that sucker open, lit the tinder in the fireplace and had ourselves a merry little time. The wine itself was a simple table variety so nothing special but definitely palatable.
Would I pay money for it? Probably not but they could have done a lot worse for a comp'ed bottle. They definitely need wireless internet (they just have wired) and some better bath products (apricot private-label stuff just didn't cut it). Overall, I'm happy with the overnight for the price paid (which was discounted) but if I were to pay full price, I think I'd drop it a star and a half.
I just returned from a lovely day at the Willow Creek Spa. I checked in at the Spa front desk, and asked to pay the bill for both my facial and my sister's (it was her birthday). The cost was substantial and included an 18% gratuity, which was fine. The facials were very well done, using nice products and quite experienced therapists. My sister's therapist mentioned the 'Good Neighbor' policy that extends discounts of some kind to guests who live nearby (I do). I went back to the check - in desk to ask about this, and was given a fairly vague and rather rude response and told to 'fill out a card for next time'. Conversely, we went to the Big 3 restaurant for lunch, and our server asked us immediately if we were locals, and automatically gave us a 20% discount.
Needless to say, the cost of the entire lunch was still less than what the 'neighbor' rate discount on the treatments would have been. I was just disappointed by the way it was handled by the Spa. It seemed like they were trying to avoid the whole thing.
